Gladys Cavalcante is a professional Brazilian Ballroom and Latin Dancer & Performer, Choreographer and Zumba Instructor. From Rio de Janeiro, she began her training in 1993 in Brazilian Ballroom Dance. She has travelled around the world with performances to presidents in Africa, Middle Eastern and mostly recent Asia (Hong Kong). Also She had performed for Britain's Got Talent 2010 semi-final. Most Recently She got the prize with Douglas Gomes, one of her dance partners, for the best latin dance performers of 2011 for the LUKAS- Latin UK AWARDS.
Gladys starts her trainning at the most traditional Brazilian Ballroom Dance School, ‘Jaime Arouxa Centre of Dance.’ She is specialized in Brazilian dance styles like Samba no Pe, Samba de Gafieira, Forro, Bolero, Lambazouk, Brazilian Zouk and Salsa. She is qualified as Fitness Instructing from YMCA and Zumba Instructor. Recently She had joyned Afro Contemporary dance company, Nutempo.
Currently based in London Gladys has been teaching regular classes & workshops around UK, for all ages and dance performing all over England and Abroad including television (BBC, ITV, Star TV...) English Awards events, Brazilian Embassy envents, Dance Congresses, London School of Samba, Paraizo Samba School, Gyms, West End clubs, Carnivals and many festivals.
In 2009, Gladys & her partner were runners-up in the 1st Forro Competition held in London. Engagement and conexion with the audience are Gladys’ hallmarks. She has also produced a Brazilian dance show ‘Brazil: Rhythms & Colours’ that was showed in Britain in 2010.
